Saw this somewhere? In the intrest of "public safety" the MAN can shut down the ENTIRE internet at will. hmmmmmm - Media Blackout? Somebody in the White house must have watched "Diary" lol.

If the gov decided to shut down the Internet for whatever reason they would have to deal with hundreds of millions of really pissed off people and businesses. My guess is that they will try to take it over bit by bit with regulations and licensing till it is as fucked up and restrictive as everything else the gov touches.

Im not sure if its possible to shut down the entire internet at one time. But if they managed too, that would cause as much damage, if not more then a total power black out in the affected areas.

Net 2.0 has been out for several years now. It's mostly used by the military and several Big universities. From what I have read about it it's many, many, many times faster then what we are using now.
And Al Gore didn't invent this one.

Actually, it would already be everywhere but our current infrastructure can't handle it yet. Net 2.0 needs fiber optic lines to run at it's full potential. Trying to run it across copper lines like 90% of the country still uses would be a waste because it would only be as fast as New 1.0. It should be available everywhere right about the time Net 4.0 is out. Lol.
