I watch and read alot of things about zombies. I always thought the rule about zombie killing was " Zombies can be killed by a bullet or sharp blow to the head" but i have also readed things were if you cut there head off that kills them.  So, if you cut a zombies head off would the head  and body still try to attack you or would it kill it? also what is this sharp blow to the head thing about? i thought you have to kill the brain(like driveing a spike into the eye to kill the brain)?

I guess it all depends which movie or book about zombies your talking about. Personally I am for the traditional destroy the brain method and your done. I like the Return of the Living Dead but didn't care for headless bodies and limbs still trying to attack you. If you cut off the head the body should be no more of a threat than a sack of potatoes. If the brain is intact in a severed head it would live and might even make an interesting conversation piece for the coffee table.

Agreed. Depends on the book or movie. You have to run with the writer's idea either way.

BTW Alex. That was my favorite moment from ROTLD. We take for granted something will drop a zombie. If you knock their head off and they run at you anyway how long would it take you to throw together a flame thrower? What the Hell is plan "C"? Steamroller?

Sharp blow to the head thing --

Helling, have you ever been "knocked out" as in a punch to your head that momentarly turns your brain off for a mili secound? I have. thats what a "sharp" blow to the head can do.  ( Oh, also a blow to your liver can do the same thing as it instantly stops all!!! bloodflow to your body (brain)) KO!!

The reason why is your brain rests in your skull suspended in a liquid, call it brain juice, when you recieve a sharp blow you brain actually contacts your skull, the brain does not like to be touched. When it is, it will flinch and turn off like a circuit breaker or fuse, hence you turn off ie.. KO!

I'm shur one of you can explain this better than a redneck.....

Also it is physically impossiable for the body to move after the head has been removed. Except in COD WAW Zombie Nazis....... ;~) Anybody becides me get killed by headless corpses???

I always imagined the 'sharp blow to the head' had to do with damaging the spinal chord. That's the relay point for how the brain spreads all the info to the body right?

It's been over a decade since I took A&P 101 I'll admit, but I thought if you damage the brain stem bit, the re-activated brain cannot take the damage and shuts down.

All theoretical of course, until lord Cthulhu gives me my own zombies to experiment on.

The inside of the skull isn't smooth. It has a lot of rough, sharp and pointy bits formed during the rapid growth in childhood through to adolescents. It's why boxers are more prone to memory and dementia issues from what I hear.

Anyways, depends on what canon of zombie law (lore?) you happen to be following at any given time I suppose. I'm kind of a traditionalist, no head = body dead, severe trauma to the noggin by projectile, sharp or blunt force trauma will do the trick.

Well in The monster series the leader zeds were not killed outright by a head shot they could actually recover if there were other zeds around that they could drain energy from.

also the return of the living dead zeds couldn't be stopped with head shots either well at least in the first 2 movies
