With respect to all involved.  I have autographed copies of the first two books, and many personal emails and PM's from Z. I say this to make the point that Im not just some Joe-Bob asking a personal question. Zach and I went to the same basic training in the ARMY, and we shared many wonderful stories about the ARMY and about life.  I'd like to know (it's important to me to get a feel for the book itself, and to have an understanding of how this story ends) what percentage of the actual script of Survivors was written by Zach?

When all is said and done, its my hope that 75+% of book three will have been written by Zach. It wont matter, as I'll buy the book and read it with emotion and zeel.  I simply hope that MOST of the books content comes from Zach.  I miss him and I'm hoping to find him again in this most anticipated final chapter of his life.

Thank you.

Tom

Yeah, I have to say I feel the same. I'd hope that the majority of the work is actually Z's work, or in line with what "he" wanted.

Why don't we say this, because it'll probably ending up working out that way anyway:

Everything you love about the book, thank Z.

Everything you hate about it, blame me.

Enjoy!

Hey now, that's not fair.  There were things about the first two books I didn't care for, but over all I loved them. I guess I'm not getting my point across.  I think Im trying to say, that if Zach didnt contribute the greater percentage of the storyline is it really his, and should the book have been pursued in the first place?

There were some gaps between what he'd already written and where he wanted it to go; some of those gaps were filled with Z's deleted scenes*, which I reworked so they would fit in the timeline as required. Some of those gaps are bridged with my own work.

(One of the things I received from the family was a compilation of Z's notes for his plans, surprises, deaths, in-jokes, and endgame.)

The only parts of the book I will ever identify as mine are things that are clearly not Z's original work, such as the WWII slit-trench story, or small character moments, like the sailors' game of Spades. (Both of these are in the Survivors progress thread.)

So, to answer your question: yes. The majority, almost the totality of the storyline is Z.A. Recht.

* - I used every scene, every scrap of character background, every note that was handed over to me to maximize the Z quotient of the novel. Some of them had to be manipulated to fit, and it is my great hope that, in the end, no one will be able to tell who wrote what.

Thank you for that explanation. I appreciate it.  Frankly, it makes me look forward to the continuation/completion even more.  With respect to you and your work, and I appreciate you taking on the task and finishing this for all of us, I'm glad most of the book will be from Z.  I as we all have been waiting for this storyline to continue/finish.
