Based on my location, I'd stay put. Too much shit to move, too many people, too much needed equiptment, also know the area really well.

So I would stay put. You?

I know it's attractive/romantic/ Bad Ass to strike out for some great location or some friends house "in the woods" but in realilty unless you are in a really big city, staying put might just keep you alive.

I would have to leave eventually once the SRP shuts down the desert would start to reclaim phoenix and the water would stop. Plus with no a/c the city would be a deadly oven especially in the summer, the smell from the zeds in this oven would be pretty bad.

Stay put definitely. I live in a colonial house in a small town in backwoods GA. We are about 20 miles from Atlanta but the Z's have plenty of other places to go before they get to me.
I also have all my weapons and rations and water, etc etc.
My house is built about 5 feet off the ground and all that connects the doors to the outside are wooden stairs so they are easily destructible. The windows are out of reach so they wouldn't even need to be boarded up and since it's an old house it has a little generator in the basement and runs on well water. I think i'm good where i'm at.

I'd stay put for a while, I'm not that rural but the attic would be a great place to stow away (only way up is retractable ladder) for at least a week until the intial shit stops hitting the fan.

JBK ! Watch out for Ambulances!!!!! and lock the door to keep the nice neighbor girl on the rollerblades out!

Oh I agree, run like hell. The town I live in is about 14,000 total, I'm 2 blocks from a kmart, food, hardware store, gas station. Also we get our water from the lake(lake MI) and power is made at the dam 8 blocks away. The river seprates us from Wisconsin, the lake from Canada on the north side. Not to mention the winter hard freeze.

Soldier you got room for two more? Sounds ideal.

I'd bug out of my place, it would be hard leaving all my material stuff. But Id head up north as it is a lot colder and if it was true that Zeds freeze, Id stand a better chance up the top of Scotland.

Just make sure I have good sized transport and a trailer maybe so I can loot my way up Scotland.

im in a 2 story house, once we "own" the house (damn bank) then we plan on turning one room into a Panic room. We plan to make a passage way threw the Panic room that will lead outside. As of now the room we want to turn is our Storage room with canned goods/water/clothing/ect/ect

My 'town' has 150k people and is 10.7 miles from downtown Los Angeles (population 3.83m). The greater metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to 14.8m people, affording it megacity status.

So, yeah I'd be leaving.

Well as I said in a past thread, I live near a military base. Tomorrow, I am moving anyhow to a new flat. The new place is actually pretty defensible from what I can tell. Two very small windows, and two doors. Its out in the country so I would think they'd be a little too busy to come looking that far out. As myself, and apparently two other residents ride motorcycles, getting around might not be that bad of an idea. Still I struggle that I am disabled, so I wouldn't be a big time raider. I still think I'd try to get out, as I said, because I would want to be with my parents when I died. I know my father wouldn't let us become roamers.

Run like I stole something. Way to hella close to a couple of cities. I have enough food for about a year with winter camping supplies and an attached garage to load up the truck. Boogie time.

Way off topic: It's a classic. (Earth Abides) Dated as Hell but a classic. Figured more people would have read it I guess. It really did apply to the topic of justice in The Walking Dead TV series but I just figured it would have been better known. I'll move something about it to the books section soon. My bad.

On topic: I'm not in much better shape than you JBK. Run and hope the weather in Minnesota can do what no amount of ammo I can carry can. Worked for Stalin. Didn't it?

Okay, I have moved into my new flat. It is wonderful. There are only three small windows to it. It has metal doors with dead bolts and its in a fairly secluded area. Close by are at least 8 hotels, its next to the interstate. 3 people here ride motorcycles, and the guy next to me is a mechanic. I'm so happy
