You guys don't mind if I whore out my work here, do you?

Sad Wings of Destiny is almost finished, and it feels like my Magnum Opus. 32 of 40 chapters are done, with the manuscript at 86.5K words for now. The novel is a superhero epic (I hope) with overtones of Revelations.

Sooner or later, I'll post a snippet here and there for your enjoyment and sampling pleasure. But for now, I'll introduce you to one of the main heroes (Spring-Heeled Jack) and one of the main villains (Synapse).

Spring-Heeled Jack

Synapse

33/40 done.

Thank you! The different parts of the books are named for the songs on the album, but I don't know if I'm going to make that official yet. If so, I'll need to get permission from the Priest, probably. They seem cool enough, though. Dr. Kim Paffenroth got permission to use some JP lyrics at the front of Valley of the Dead.

Fucking awesome, man. And I agree, I think JP will be fine with it. They're definitely cool dudes.

First draft done at 102,ooo words. I have to go back and make sure the first half agrees with the second half, as it was so long between the two. That should be done before the holidays.

Done. Unfucking the first 67% was easier than I thought, now that the back end was actually written and solid.

First draft really complete now, at 103,ooo words. I'm getting a commissioned work done by Spiritcage Art. It's going to be half SHJ and Synapse, side-by-side like the shot of Banner and the Hulk from the TV show, except it'll be SHJ losing his shit in the picture, with Synapse calm as fuck.

Yeah. I'm excited about this book.

Looks like we were both wrong there. Band management said if they let me use all the song names, it would look as if the band was endorsing the book, which they are not.

I pushed and got permission to use "Prelude" as the prologue title, so at least informed fans will know to look.

ARE THERE ANY BETA READERS IN THE HOUSE?

I have this in PDF, AZW (for the Kindle) and EPUB. If any of you reading this has the time and inclination to read this and offer their opinion, let me know here. Thankee.

That's bullshit man! I can see their logic, but I feel like it's not strong enough to merit the thought of 'endorsement', particularly if you were to say something in a 'foreword' about how the book, story, and characters have no affiliation with JP, the management, or the record label.

What would be funny is if they all ended up LOVING the book and wishing they HAD endorsed it.

I will absolutely read it. Though I'm also not the best literary critic, so I don't know if my notes/opinions are going to be of a whole lot of value, as I'm a psych major and nowhere near a lit major (I'm using that as a metaphor for how I'm not all that critical about literary criteria). That's really the only kicker. As far as willingness to read it... absolutely. I'm halfway through Speaker for the Dead (after like 2 days), and so I should have some free time here very soon.
