Hey hon, I think your post is a bit much to have public. I know you mean well, but with people coming out of the woodwork trying to get personal info out of me and I would assume others that were close to him, it might be a good idea to edit that post out of respect for his family and close friends. I do completely understand you and where you are coming with this, but please if you need to talk, call my cell # 732-277-7409 (I am going to make it avail to anyone who needs to talk, I am a counsellor in real life although as you know I am in treatment for cancer and not working at the present.)

If my phone is shut off, leave a message, I'll get back to you ASAP. Text me too if that's easier, just please make sure you let me know who you are by leaving your username, as I'm not always with it when it comes to that sort of thing. I'm used to your usernames and sometimes don't remember your real names, OK? This is a big step for me guys. I am here for you if you need it.

I am speechless... while I wasn't nearly involved in the site as some of you, me and Z had our discussions and joked around a bit. His books truly are the best zombie novels that I've read. It's sad that his legacy may be left unfinished, but that should be an after thought given the fact that he leaves behind loved ones, fans, and a bright future.

RIP Z...

see you at the ZPAW

I am stunned. I only check the site maybe once or twice a week for updates so I just found out. My condolences to his family and friends. I only knew him through his books and this site but I found him an interesting and talented writer and person. The world will be a lesser place without him.

Sage and I are looking to design a tattoo in memorial to him and I doodled around this:

Thoughts?

That's the same idea I had for an insignia I was going to use after I finished my poem, 'cept for me, the Z was going to be bigger.

An update:
I have touched base with the family and wanted to share what the current most up-to-date information is regarding the situation.

First, and foremost, the website will NOT be shut down. Do not worry about the forum just shutting down automatically as the bills will be paid, that is for sure.

Second, as of now, I am going to make the necessary moves to get access to the website so that we can make the transition to allow whoever will be the most qualified to take over and operate the site both financially and as the operator.

Third, the re-release of Plague of the Dead is going to be pushed back until the necessary legal work is taken care of via the family and the publishing companies.

Forth, the third installment, Survivors, is something currently still being researched. The book itself could be finished, could be all most finished, or could be very early in its writings. This is all up in the air until the family gets the necessary facts they need, which is not something they have been able to tackle yet.

Finally, PLEASE refer all questions or comments about any of the situation to my email - webb842@msn.com . We need a filter system set up for the family's privacy. Ali has been getting flooded in her facebook account by those who are needing answers to questions that do not need to be asked at this time...especially to one of Z's siblings. The family loves and adores all of Z's fans, and we need to make sure that the questions that are truly important are asked via close friends and family members...questions such as "how did it happen" or "when did it happen" is not something anyone wants to have to explain 200 times to strangers. This information will come soon enough and we need to give them as much peace as humanly possible. We must put their privacy and their sorrows before any of our own as they are the ones who are most impacted by this loss. Thanks for your time in reading this and stay strong.
Regards,
Chris

I guess that is a small silver lining in this whole situation, that the site will survive on for the time being.  I just can't keep but thinking as to how Z died, it is truly tragic.

Sporatic, that isn't bad.  I would look at the cover of POTD and Thunder and Ashes for inspiration.  I think the POTD biohazard symbols in the skull eyes look awesome.

I'm really gonna miss Z. He was the one who got me interested in writing from the get go. I remember the first story I ever wrote I sent to him. I didnt really expect much in the way of a reply so when I got an email back from him a few days later that was basically a page long I was ecstatic. That day I logged onto the forum and got myself a username. I'm glad for all the time I got to spend with him and with all of you guys. Hell, this may sound hokey but I love each and every one of you guys like a brother or sister. I would gladly go through hell and back with everyone of you. When I turn 18 im buying myself a plane ticket and heading to texas to get a tattoo from Hex.

I am absolutely stunned and saddened. Although I never met him, I always considered Zach a kindred spirit. The lights will not shine so brightly now that he has passed.

I am devastated.  I was one of the first members of this form...I don't post a lot but love to read everyone's banter and comments.  Z was a talented person, very intelligent, funny and always kind to me.  I just can't wrap my mind around this....not at all....

Wow... I'm just speechless.  I have no words for this aside from condolences to his family.

I was just talking up his books to my mother and sister on Friday.  I had no idea until reading all this just now, I just can't really grasp the concept he's not here.

Rest in Peace Dhaymon.

I "met" Zach online.  He was an officer in our WoW guild, Pia Presidium, for a couple of years and it was there that we became friends.  He was an incredible person.  He was always there to help, and was quite often the voice of calm and reason in guild matters.  It's not that often that you get to know the person behind the avatar, and in Zach's case I feel lucky have known him.

I followed his career outside of WoW to these boards and his books.  I was a fan and hoped to meet him in person someday at a book signing or something.

It always sucks to lose a friend or loved one, but when you lose someone as special, kind hearted and talented as Zach it's heartbreaking.

My sympathies and condolences to his friends and family.  He will be missed.

I am actually gutted by this news. I didn't read any other threads yesterday but I have just seen now.

I am going to light a candle for my friend Zach who I spent a lot of time talking to, annoying and sending him books for him to sign. He posted me a little troll pen and a letter and I shall forever cherish our chats.

RIP Z. I know with you will me a lot.

I actually can not believe he is gone. We were going to get married in Vegas by a bad Elvis I am just thinking of all chats and him laughing at my dumbness and I will be honest in saying I have a shed a tear for a friend, who although I have never met, I will miss.

I have been looking through my numerous e-mail discussions with Z.  One of them says;

"I'm falling behind on my self-set schedule for finishing up Survivors, but I'm hoping it won't be too much longer."

In another e-mail discussion with Z, he informed me of this:

"I do have a few projects planned, post-Morningstar, as I really want to make a go of writing as a career. Whether or not that works out is up to the fates...

I have several e-mails archived.  They are private communications between Z and myself but I thought the fans would have liked to read those small passages relating to his writings.

Keep your doors locked,

-J.L. Bourne

That's pretty much what I know too. That was VERY generous of you to share this with all of us. You're a good guy John, but I've already told you that. Oh, and thanks again for your email the other night. I've been really headache-y and not feeling well. You gave me the fuzzies, my friend!

To the Recht family I am so sorry for your loss.

I have been going around for days lost in translation on what to post. I did make a  post earlier that I thought may have helped me, but I was wrong and I do apologize for that.
Zach and I have known each other since he went to elementary school. His quick whitted come backs as well as his intelligence is far beyond grasp.  He was always a family first kind of man. Everytime I asked if he wanted to hang out, his reply was " nah dude can't this time, how about this time."
I went to his humble abode one time and we hung out. He was really cool to hang out with again.  I do remember asking him how far along he was on the survivors book. He told me that he has actually written a couple of drafts and sent them to some people for criticisms. Unfortunatly he never did let out who these individuals were.
Given the circumstances of recent events. I can understand to all Z lovers out there being in total disbelief. As this was my first reponse as well.

Ali, Adam, Dr. Recht, and Mary; I am very sorry for your loss.

I remember asking Zach when the Star Wars films were rereleased I said to him " Hey man d'you like it" he then replied with his whitty self and said " Yeah jew liked it"  That was his hebrew one liner. I had a kick for hours about that. Thank you all for letting me shre this with you
