I may get one of these this go-around, seeing as MicroSuck doesn't want customers anymore.

Have you heard of The Division?

Considering that Sony has said you don't have to be "logged in all the time", or a restriction on after market games, unlike Micro-Suck.  Aside from the franchise games like Halo, etc, what does Xbox really have going for it?  Oh, the pay per month to play online, the crap help service if there's an account problem, etc.  I haven't played on the PS since the PS1, so I don't know how many players per day there are compared to the xBox; but if there's a decent number, I'd make the switch.   And it seem's like 343's game Destiny is going to be cross-platform, so I can get my Bungie fix that way and skip the next Halo game.

Sony confirmed you have to switch to PS Plus (at $50 per year) to play online with the new PS4 but that's small potatoes compared to what Microsoft is doing.

It isn't confirmed how much the sub will be for Xbox One but yes, it's currently $60 for the 360.

Which is usually on sale on Amazon for around $47.  Sometimes you can catch it as low as $27.  But that'll be when you don't have any money.  Then as soon as you get paid it'll jump right back to $47.  Goddamnit.

I like  how MicoSuck reveresed their stance this week.....following on the footsteps of Sony perhaps?  I wonder how soon after people buy the XOne/Bone, MS sudden make a change in the user aggreement and flipflop on their stance again and go back to their original way.

That's what I was wondering.  It's such a quick turnaround that it feels too good to be true, and you think they're gonna tack on some shitty little stipulation at the last minute.

There's a possibility that they might build-in a malfunction that requires you to upgrade to the DRM/always online later down the road...

This was a refreshing article I hope gets read by the people it targets.  I don't know how right he is, but it sure felt good reading it.

An industry that needs Xbox One DRM is a failed industry

Quote:
Xbox One tried to leap to step five without doing steps one, two, three, and four. It wanted to rush us from physical media to digital media, without clearly communicating its goals, or producing a console that gave direct and tangible benefits to the consumer, or proving it could withstand the demands of a product so reliant on the Internet, or without even ensuring there was a big enough audience for it. You can ask Sony how well that worked with the PSPgo (it didn't work very well).

The PC proved it was ready for digital distribution, but it took years to do so. You can't just get up and start running when you're not even crawling properly, and in the years since Steam and GOG rose to become justifiable alternatives to physical media, home consoles languished with slow interfaces, clunky storefronts, and expensive games without any of the benefits we've come to expect from PC games. No mods. No quick option for patching content. No user fixes. None of that. Consoles need to work to earn their digital future. They can't just wake up one day and have it presented to them on a velvet pillow.

Early Beta Testing is pretty much like like Alpha Testing--the glitchiest part of testing.  I won't be concerned about it since both companies (Sony and Microsoft) have had more than enough time to work kinks out.
