Audible US, which picked up the audio rights to Plague and Thunder and grabbed dibs on Survivors while they were at it a couple of months ago, have just released Plague of the Dead and Thunder and Ashes as audiobooks on their website.

If you like to "read" while driving, or know someone who prefers to listen over flipping pages, here's your chance. They'd make a handsome Rosh Hashanah gift! Or Christmas gift. Whichever.

Both are narrated by Oliver Wyman.

Of the audiobooks? No, as far as I can tell they're downloadable to your ipod/whatever for your listening pleasure. According to my contact at Audible, the *most* popular audiobooks are printed onto CDs and sold traditionally.

Which is too bad--I would have loved to have had a few audiobook versions at Horror Realm. Maybe I should get in touch with Steve and see what he thinks.

Me neither.  I was hoping I could get CD's to listen to in my car while driving.  I drive a good amount for work and would not mind listening to them again.

I think it is time for me to get an Ipod.

I actually sat and listened to the audio samples they provide on the site. I like the narrator's voice. He does good work. He even adds a touch of an accent to Dr. Mayer's voice.

It's weird hearing my writing being read out loud, though.

I like the narrator, especially the voice he uses for Thomas.

Not bad, not bad.  I like how the readers these days do the voice changes to differentiate from character to character.  Nice long audio clip.  That's worth getting.

That's awesome that Oliver Wyman is doing the reading, as he is regarded as a pretty damn good narrator.

As I am living in a rather cramped environment I tend to rely on audio books these days to get my literary fix. That's how I found out about MSS. I was looking through a audiobook site and decided, "Wonder if there are any zombie novels out." So I picked up the two I found. The reader is really fun, if you've ever had a story read to you when you're little you know its always best when they do the voices.

The reader has great voices for people, Sherman sounded exactly like I would have imagined him. Brewster sounds a lot like Hudson from Aliens, which is great.

So while opinions vary, if you're thinking about picking up the audio books, I think it would be a good buy. I just hope when the third one comes out they get the same reader.

Just bought both, but I am at work and do not have Itunes on this computer.  Apparently you download something to Itunes to sync to your Iphone.  I was kind of hoping it would send it directly to the phone, but I guess that is still in the future.

I cannot wait to listen to it in the car on the drive back and forth to work.  priming me for Survivors.

Me too, man. I'm super glad you revived this. I'm gonna have to get these so I'm ready for Survivors. Audiobooks are the best. And I work a delivery job, so I'm always driving.

Got both the audiobooks and the paper copies....I actually prefer the audiocopies since I can listen to them as I walk/jog/or drive along.  Hope they do the 3rd book in audio.

I just started listening on the way to work this morning.  Def unabridged.  The reader lists everything from the email transmissions.  I like his voice work so far, but he made Mbutu sound like a Pakistani.  Still very good quality.  I go through the emails and the first outbreak at the airport this morning.

You are a great critic...seriously...you should start reviewing novels and films professionally...I would have no idea how to get into that....

Thanks man.  I have a friend (I have pimped him on here before) who self publishes and I have helped him with editing on his books.  I wonder how you get into that?  Most likely need some bullshit degree that will not help you one bit in your daily job, but will make you go to school for 8 years and rack up that debt.
