this is something i have been thinking about for a long time. Let say you have a idea the undead are coming, you have seen the signs of this on TV, weird story's of the dead coming back to life have been coming from all over the place, the armed forces have been set to some city's, the media has been saying there is noting to fear it's simply another disease outbreak but other things have been happening to make you think there is something up. people have been stocking up on food and stuff and you think it's time to get some guns. You find a gun store that still has lots of guns and ammo and his prices are still the same as before. you have about 2,000 for your gun and ammo and want a handgun and long gun. there is a sign saying "limit 6 box's of ammo because of ammo shortage" but there are 500 round tuna cans of ammo to choose from.
What would be the best pick of one long gun, hand gun, and as much ammo and you can buy for 2G. __________________ Welcome to Death Weapon Meister Academy. More commonly known as the DWMA. Good question. This is just me but I would get a 12ga pump. Rem 870 is my favorite with a variety of ammo for it. The hand gun would be a .22 auto. Ruger. Don't forget cleaning kits and if money allows a holster, spare mags a second barrel for the 870 and a good machete.

Something to think about if you are away from home and all Hell breaks loose. SKS and a Springfield XD or XDM 9mm. You could double down on Ammo and other supplies you would need probably more than the firearms. It would be hard to top the Remington 870 if you are on your own for the foreseeable future. Most versatile gun I own.

$2000 = app £1500
If I had the slots for it (which I do, uk law meh) a "very" reliable .22lr carbine, Sig 522 or the Colt M4 clone (made by colt) with a moderator (500-700), and a buckmark long barrel pistol (500-800). Spare mags, loads of quality subsonic / standard / high velocity ammo, so its all interchangeable, Reflex sight on the carbine. Providing we are in full on ZPAW and there isn't much law left, the LBP would get the arm brace chopped off. I figure all my engagements are from CQB to 100 yards max so .22lr fine, even if I use 2 shots to make sure. I'd consider if cash allowed a Hushpower 410 or 12g pump sg with low noise shells to, for hunting. Funny thing, I post here and on the Day by Day Arm site and none of my US cousins or anyone for that matter have ever mentioned moderators (we aint't allowed to call em silencers, which are for mafia hitmen - what is the US law regarding these? After all, this is ZPAW, once all the man made noise leaves the world, silence is golden! __________________ This ain't hell kiddo, this is purgatory. Because I live in FL and the weather is wet most of the time/salty, here are my picks. for long gun ruger 10/22 in stainless steel (270$) they sell 30rd mags for it at walmart for 24$ or a Marlin Model 60 stainless steel (252$) with the Speed-D-Loader which cost about 20$ and holds 120rds and sidearm ruger P95 SS(new 325$ and comes with 2 mags) or Ruger SR9 SS(399$) or the Taurus PT92SS (can also use Beretta 92 mags if you file them a little). These are my picks for max ammo I can get and having a good anti-human/PDW sidearm. Also I like those 3 handguns because they come with Manual safety and magazine disconnect which I like because you never know when someone might try a gun grab on you and it keeps accidental discharge from happening as much(don’t want to survive the zombies and then shoot myself because I rolled over in my sleep on my gun). I would have picked a 22mag but ammo seems hard to find in my area. If I was going for more of a roof top sniper/ urban assault my picks are kel-tech sub rifle in 9mm(310$) or the Su-16 (470$) Savage AXIS in 308 or 223 (290$ at dicks sporting goods) or Mossberg TREK in 308 (260$ at dicks) With a 357 revolver or a Heritage Rough Rider 9shot 22LR/22mag combo (250$) or a Taurus TRACKER 992 22/22mag combo (460$) I would not pick a shotgun because yes it has very good stopping power but you can only carry I think 50rds and with that six box limit I would only have 90rds vs. 120 with center fire rifle or 3 boxes of pistol rounds and 3 boxes of the 555rd 22LR. I also don’t like 12ga recoil with OO or deer slugs. I picked these weapons because I took into account what I could take down and clean easily, what I would know how to use, were i live and what around to hunt and what gear I already have. I come from a hunting background and I am used to using hunting rifles (like 22LR) and I already have lots of hunting gear(scopes, upland hunting vest ,knifes ,tactical shoulder holster/holsters etc..) and that gear works best with weapons like this. because i have a slingshot(been hunting with it since i was 13) the roof top sniper/ urban assault load out i could carry a center fire pistol and use the slingshot for small game. also i am a bladed weapon collector. __________________ Welcome to Death Weapon Meister Academy. That last time the run on ammo and guns happened when Obama got elected, what was available was interesting.
.40 S&W was easier to obtain than either 9mm or .45; .44 Magnum was often the only revolver cartridge to be found on the shelves; most non-military hunting caliber rifles and ammunition where plenty; it took over a year for .380 and .32 acp to catch up with demand. 5.45x39mm became popular as it was the only centerfire rifle cartridge to be available in quantity at a reasonable price. Everythings started earlier this time around with the elections looming, 2012 BS, and just the increased popularity of "prepping". I've given up on trying to acquire any ammo from wal-mart or the local gunshops. I buy almost all of my ammo in bulk on-line anymore. I feel I'm better off than most people in that regards to ammo. As to the OP: If you don't already have some sort of firearm, you're already behind the curve. That said, my choices would be a Browning Buckmark (approx. $300) and a quality AR-15 w/ 20" barrel (<$1000). I'd have a pistol that would be pretty quiet and suitable for talking small game, and I'd have a rifle that has nice firepower and range for talking larger game and enemy combatants. That would leave me with about $700 for ammo and magazines. __________________ "... you may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." -David "Davy" Crockett

I bought a Glock 19 last year and am very happy with it.
Sure its a little pricey compared with other 9mm automatics, but for the extra money you get reliability and a whole universe of accessories that make it very customizable. As for the choice of 9mm, in a real PAW scenario, given its use by the US military and many (majority?) of local law enforcement organizations it should be pretty easy to come by extra ammo. Plus, in the meantime, cheaper ammo (c/w .40 and .45 ACP) make it less expensive to train. That said, you can make a strong case for a 1911 or other pistol chambered in .45. Stopping power is better and especially in states that have a 10-round limit on magazine capacity, 9mm loses its capacity advantage. ~panic __________________
