This could go for any sort of natural disaster really, but I was reading a book that had a blind survivor. Made me think about the danger of having some one with that sort of disability in your group be it at the uprising or in the aftermath.

Would you for want of a better word allow a person of disability or elderly in your group? And by elderly I mean some one who is in the late 80's - 90's. Would you take the more heroic route of saving them/taking them with you even with the danger that they carry?

WHOA.....That is a good question. I'm not evil or selfish, but in the PAW I'm sure everyone would be lone wolves. Hell 90% people I meet will not help anyone in today's world!  I would help them if there is a well supplied and fortified facility capable of meeting their needs close by, and by close by....I mean a 5-10 min walk. I would also help if I had a large group with vehicles or armored vehicles. If I had enough supplies, I would donate food and maybe an extra weapon...

If I was on my own and barely living myself, I hate to say this, I would keep moving my own way...Now I wouldn't try to rob them or cause them any stress or harm....I would simply just avoid them and face the guilt the rest of my life.

We can't save everyone and as society falls apart, the worst of humanity surfaces...

elderly are just extra mouths to eat food, they can't do anything else and will likely die of natural causes within the next couple years any way as there is no medication, or weekly doctor appointments in a PAW.

Hard to say. Would have to be a case by case basis. Helping anyone would be my first thought but if by helping you put them and you in danger what would be the point?
So you would quickly have to make some hard decisions let some die so you can live and maybe help someone down the road that wouldn't have a chance without you?

Bottom line if you don't take care of yourself first you might not be around to take care of anyone.

That is a very tough question. I hope I never have to make a decision like that.

I would focus on saving as many lives as possible, not hurting me or everyone elses chance of survival due to one burden. I'd do what I could, but if its us(me) or them, I'd have to say us(me). It is a sad truth, but its what would have to be done.

depwends. if i/my roup is barely surviving, or on the run, then probably not. if we had a nice set up and easy transport...maybe.

exception.... If they have a valuable skill we need,  then they might be worth the extra effort

Sure I'ld want a couple of gimps tagging along. You could use them to slow up a pack of zeds if need be. Or maybe as a lure. Or even tie a bomb to one and send him into a hoard and then...blamo!

That's ruthless but I have to admit it is pragmatic.

If you can forgive my callousness for a moment, this really isn’t a very difficult question if you think about it. I mean, it is in the sense that no one wants to be a dick and just say "F*ck that, let little old granny sweetcakes get torn to shreds," but if you think about it, everyone's answer is pretty much the same. "I'd help if I could, but not if it means my life." People just have an inherent guilt about admitting it.

Interesting, I would let them hang for a while but if they slow me down and there are plnety of zombies around, by well all means, trip the foot and let the z's get them and put a bullet in his/her head.

If it was a family member i would hold on until i need them as bait.. sorry mom and day, granny and grand dead or anyone else old as shit.. i hate to say it, but making sure i survive with my wife and kids is a ut most importance, basicaly saying i told my step duaghter if ur grandmother ever slowed me down , she is good as slow down bait for the Z's, hate that bitch and the whole she crawled out of

If you can fire a gun ,  have need to know info(some old people know how to really live off the land), or i can help i will try.  If all i can do is help them end there life or give them some spare food and water and go on my way, then that be it. Maybe it means i will die faster but f&*k it i am not going to let someone die if a can do something about it. I always think when this is over or if i meet my god what will he said to me about my actions.

this reminds me of the "Dead Night and the Dead Ruck" of high school of the dead.  also helping people does have it good points. Like maybe that old persons or there family has a stock pile of weapons or has access to lots of weapons. I know their is a old lady that i used to help around her home with things and one day she asked me if i liked guns(she never talked about have any guns). turns out her dead husband had a large collect of guns(200 when they counted them and many were mint in box) and she was looking for someone to help her sell them.

also think about this. If you get hurt or wounded in a group what would you want them to do?  you just slow them down .

So basically we're an organization that serves to protect and preserve peace! I guess it's not exactly a typical school. Oh well, that isn't important! For now, lets roll up our sleeves and get to work!

Interesting question for ya - if you met a survivor who knew stuff that would help you survive but they needed medicine from the local hospital to keep them alive, what would you do?  Risk your life and get the stuff they need?  Leave them to die (possibly horribly)?  Or would you learn what you can and grant them a merciful death?

Got an oldie in my family who knows about freakin' everything but without his meds he's dead in a week.  Still trying to decide the question myself......

I would imagine that risking your life for any resource be it food or another human would have to be done.

Indeed, it does sound like it benefits the both of you if they remain alive. They become not just a member of the family (which should already be enough to help someone, IMO), but an asset to survival. Gotta foster and protect essential assets in a crisis.
