I am looking for a consensus from Zombie afficianados as to whether or not all Zombies fear heat and flame. Yes or No?

I think the answer is Yes, but let's get some opinions based on your reading and films.

If they were that smart they would duck when you shot at them!

I would have to say yes if your talking classic Romero walking dead. After all he is the father of what we generally think of as zombies.

I don't have a problem with new versions of the dead but slow moving large numbers, fire and head shots is what I think of when we talk zombies.

Ding ding ding.

To add to that....they feel no pain why avoid fire, but walk right into razor wire or stomp through broken glass on the street barefoot?

It definitely seems to depend on how smart the writer/director is trying to make them seem.  The old ways in movies, literature and roleplaying games was that they did, in fact, fear open flames.

However, you get folks who are trying to play up the fact that the zombies have no fear and they just ignore the flames the same way they would say... A growling dog.

In my opinion, based on my taste in writing, i believe that a zombie would not fear flames.  As the MSS series is by far my favorite i think that Z made it clear that they will stop at NOTHING for a chance at the living.  this is made evident at Suez when the zs are shreading themselves in the razor wire to get at the soldiers on the other side.  However, if you have read The Dead by Mark E Rogers, i wasn't a huge fan, the zs in that book have a deffinate fear of flame and use it against each other.  thats my take.

I would think Z's infected may not fear flames but would respond, at least a little, to the pain of burning. The true zombies I would expect would not respond to either fire or pain.

I agree with Thasic. I see no reason for them to fear anything, really.

Do all zombies fear heat and flames?

Maybe the question should be do the zombie you personally imagine fear heat and flames? Since the term zombie means different things to each of us according to how we were introduced to them from books and film.

You are right. It is a personal thing...for me zombies respond to external stimuli at a very basic level. So here is my logic tree.

Noise and sight stimuli cause them to growl at people and then seek to pursue and eat them.

However, while we know they are dead, we also know the brain is needed for them to be revived, so their brain functions must be operating at a very basic level. Fear of heat and flame is a very basic reaction to skin burning, which is learned at an early age.

Consequently, for me, they would fear flame and heat. On the other hand, the poll seems to favor NO heavily to this fear for most other posters.

To each his own.

When I say zombies I mean the classic Remero, Morningstar, World War Z, et al zombies. There are numerous very good books and stories with other interpretations of zombies that may feel fear, lust, remorse whatever. I just assume the OC was asking about 'standard' zombies.

Zombies feeling lust scares me on a very primal level.  AHHHH that corpse is trying to take off my pants.  Get away!  Get away!

Well, the answer depends on what media you're talking about. If I were to shoot a movie it'd work both ways. Certain zombies with minimal brain damage will be afraid of fire, due to a very vauge recollection of burning. But others with a ton of brain damage would walk right into a fire... I'll say No to the poll, but I still think that there isn't really a correct answer.
