When there is an outbreak in books/films it always seems that the people who are in the quarantine zone are left to die or the Military are given orders to shoot everyone.

Is this how it would go down in a real life situation or would the forces in charge help the uninfected?

Having worked for the govt for over 10 years, I can say.....the "leaders" say they care......but your just a number....and an annoying one if you don't go along with what they say.   I have less trust for many, not all or even most, govt people.....lots of self-intrests there; but, that's human nature.

If some thing does happen I definetly plan to go it alone. I dont trust Politicians and anyone in charge.

But would Soldiers be sent with with an open ROE in a disease outbreak?

I too would want to take care of my own, but I really fear the "containment" efforts by the military.

They can and would throw up an iron curtain that few could bypass ( given enough warning and time). Cobra choppers and Bushmasters mounted on Bradleys are hard to run from...

ROE  - Return on Equity?

Look and at how US troops are ham-strung with the Rules Of Engagment in Iraq and Afghan right now.   Though, I might imagine it'd be easier here in the God Fearing USofA.

I know during state emergencies here which I've worked, when the public would go to the state/county shelters...you better plan on playing by the rules or your ass is gonna get hooked up.  I don't see reason why the Fed would be any different.  Actually, the events that I worked on with the Feds, they were by far much cooler and laidback than the State officers/agents ever were.  The coolest were actually the BATF....the douchiest....the FBI.  Fuckwads.  But both were still far better than state or county po-po.

As most of us can figure out, we should only really rely on our kin and kindred.
