Well I with WWZ out now and I just rewatched the History Channel Documentary: Zombies a Living History were they talking about some of the weapons you could use to kill zombies.  Now in The Zombie Survival guide and a few other places they said a bashing weapon like a crowbar (I know it has other uses but we are talking about as a weapon) or a baseball bat is the best weapon to have over a slashing weapon but on the Zombies a Living History they said a bashing weapon would just wear you out and a slashing weapon taking head off is a much better choice.

So which one do you think is better?  Myself ,  people have started calling me the forest ninja because of   all the cutting videos I have done on YouTube and that I practice  my swordsmanship  in my behind my home all the time. I find a good sword like the 1060 tactical wakizashi, cold steel 2 handed katana machete(own and use it  a lot) or something around the size of a Burmese Dah(I cut 7’’ of meat with mines and use it to cut stuff all the time) like the Hanwei Banshee sword to be the best anti-zombie weapons. All of them are short and easy to use both inside a building or in the woods, there not the hard to learn who to use right (I learned from a book to use mines), you can used to for cutting other things like wood and you can both stab or cut with them just as easy, and last unlike a bat you can used them on handed.  Also there used to keep in working order and the all come with a way to carry them easily.

Welcome to Death Weapon Meister Academy. More commonly known as the DWMA. It stands as a defense against the forces of zombies , which would plunge the world into chaos and drag humanity into the very depths of fear and madness. The demons known as zombies , and their eternal hunger for destruction. To ensure that zombies never take hold on this world, this Academy was founded. So basically we're an organization that serves to protect and preserve peace! I guess it's not exactly a typical school. Oh well, that isn't important! For now, lets roll up our sleeves and get to work!

The only advantage to having a long bashing weapon over a long slashing weapon is that it could be used to break into places to gather supplies.  Thereby reducing the weight you must carry. However, anyone's bugout bag must have a a cutting tool for cutting wood, rope, etc., so weight may not be a consideration.

I don't buy the endurance issue unless you are swinging a sledgehammer. That could get tiring easily, although a crowbar is not as heavy, but a good bashing tool.  I suppose this choice will come down to personal preference.

I personally would use a ax. Blade side for cutting and the reverse side for bashing,

They've both got their merits. I suppose it depends on what you're using it for. The good thing about an ax, like Doc said, is that it's got a side for each. But the problem there is that the face isn't very big for either one, so you have to be good and accurate with it. If the zed is walking towards you, there's a chance you could miscalculate and place the head to far and end up hitting it with the shaft of the ax, or placing it too close and missing completely.

And for "slashing," knives always have their merits, but not really for fighting zeds. So it depends on what use we're talking about. I still feel that a nice steel baseball bat would be really nice. You could break their legs or destroy their heads with it without having to be remarkably precise. And ideally the bat wouldn't get stuck inside a zed quite like a sword/ax/machete might. So you'll more easily be ready for another swing.

I would go with slash I guess , I agree on axe. I had an axe, I loved it. I wrote a poem about it, it got published\

Edit so I went with both cause a double headed axe is kinda slash and bash

I always thought a pick axe handle would make a great bashing weapon. It is sturdier and a bit longer than a baseball bat. Check one out next time your in a hardware store.

Blades need more maintenance than crush weapons do and they can bend and warp when hitting hard objects. Crush weapons can lose durability as well but are less likely to.
Another issue with blades is that they have a high chance to get stuck in things. It cool to watch Michone decapitate zeds in TWD, but doing that consistently would be hard and burn alot of strength. The blade would also have to be keen to do it consistently.

It also takes alot less effort to crush a skull with a crush type weapon than delimbing a target with a bladed weapon.
